Special Offer: Up to 25% Discount When You Buy Miles
Purchase the miles you may need to reach your flight award. Save 10% to 25% when you purchase between 5,000 and 40,000 miles beginning July 1, 2012, through August 31, 2012.
Here are the Links
5,000 would cost $132 and 40,000 miles (maximum) would cost $825. You literally buy miles at 2.64 cent/mile or 2 cent/mile.
It is a good offer if you want need to top up your account for an award or plan to buy a business class ticket. I think 2 cent/mile is a fair redemption rate for international AA tickets. I am not planning to take advantage of this offer but will apply for some AA credit cards instead.
One of my favorite websites to search for car rental is CarRentals.com. It not only compares prices between different companies but also shows prices from Expedia and Hotwire. CarRentals.com acts as a base for me to hunt a good car rental deal.
For me, the problem has always been big cities. It is very difficult to get a cheap car rental in NYC, DC, Chicago and other big cities. Some mega cities have a good public transit system however it takes a long time to get from point A to B. Renting a car becomes pretty essential for me this day.
In searching for a car rental deal in Chicago for Oct, I found
1. Save! $14.99 Weekend Special (work for neighborhood and airport location)

This code works so good that it costs me $50 for 2 day rental (with taxes) and saves $70 from CarRentals.com quote
There is a war fare between United and Delta. Yesterday Delta was running an airfare promotion from Houston (United hub) to Honolulu and right away United does the same for Atlanta (Delta hub). I believe the tickets are for round-trip
Just go to Kayak and search for either or click the link below (most dates are available)
Oh man, I haven’t seen this war fare for a long time and I know we, the customers will only gain. If you wanna go to Hawaii, book it fast and enjoy it.
I also figure out a way to buy a cheap one-way ticket to Hawaii for $160 – $240 from any US City however it might take a lot of work. Let me know if you guys want me to write about it.
E-rewards has been behind a lot of mile-earning survey opportunities.
E-rewards partner with most major airlines such as AA, Southwest, and US Airways. Most of the time, you will need an invitation to join their panels however AA is opening its door with 250 bonus miles for enrolling in E-reward Panel. 250 AA miles are not much however opportunities to earn more free miles are promising.
I take surveys regularly. I am in both AA and Southwest panels. Each panel will have different partners with various redemption rates. For my AA panel, the partners are:
- AA, Club Carlson, Priority Club, Hertz, Hilton HHonors, La Quinta, Ticket Master and a few more
Save 40% on United mile purchase is probably the best you can get with United. Unlike US Airways 100% bonus mile purchase, United has only run 25% bonus in the past. This 40% discount will bring mile down to 2.2 cent/mile which can be good for some Asia redemption.
For example, flights to Vietnam in Dec will be around $1750. Buying 65,000 miles for round-trip coach award ticket will cost $1467 which will save you about $300. Buying 40% off is also cheaper than buying Chase Ultimate points at 2.5 cent/mile with a limit of 5,000 points per month. Obviously, you can then transfer Ultimate points to United at 1:1 ratio

These days, there are three promotions that I am working furiously on.
1. The first one is that check your email for “Your point balance, member offers & Summer Rewards” from Wyndham Rewards. Wyndham is giving away 16,000 points for each stay at one of their new 20 properties. Wyndham points can be transferred to airline miles at 2.5 point = 1 mile ratio. So spending $54 at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Chicago-Schaumburg or Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Salt Lake City – Fort Union ($60 per night) can earn you 6,400 airline miles. This promotion will work for 3 hotel stays potentially get you 48,000 Wyndham points = 19,200 Airline miles
Since Wyndham allows no-show point credit, a lot of people will be trying to book the cheapest hotel stays and either call in to check in or just don’t show up. I might try to book with my name and my friend’s name. Then my friend will check in for me in the city I can’t reach.
Details can be found at Travel by Points post.
Once again, Club Carlson is coming back with another big promotion for its Country Inn and Suites brand.
It’s our 25th anniversary and we’re giving away 25,000 bonus Gold Points® to Club Carlson members who register and stay two or more consecutive nights now through October 14, 2012. To celebrate, you may choose to redeem your points for a variety of gift cards or other great redemption options.
This time, you need to stay at least two nights and the bonus is only 25,000 points compared to 44,000 points of the previous deal. I still think this is a very good deal if you have to stay at a hotel any way. I might not go out of my way to make this happen though.
The links to the promotion is here
To get this deal, you have to book the 25 for 25 promotion rate at this link. I haven’t compared to see if the rate is a good discount therefore check it with other promotional code.
