Earn 7,000 miles at Rocket Miles

Rocketmiles is a hotel search engine that award you miles with American Airlines, Delta, United , Alaska, Jet Blue, US Airways, Virgin America and Hawaiian Airlines when booking with them. I wrote an article about their cool business models a few months ago . This time, they are coming back with a great promotion for new customers only (sadly not for people like me).

A new customer can  get at least 5,000 airline miles from a hotel booking with Rocketmiles. 1,000 bonus mile for opening a new account + 5,000 miles for the first booking + 1,000 miles for the booking itself. 7,000 United/American Airline points are worth about $140 (2 cent per mile valuation)

Here are steps by steps on how to get the points

1.  Use my referral link to sign-up for Rocketmiles.com, you will earn 1,000 bonus points for signing up (I will also earn 1,000 points from your sign-up too thanks a lot)

2. Book a hotel today (Nov 5th). Stay at the hotel  by December 31, 2013. You will earn 5,000 bonus points from doing this

3. Booking a hotel will ALSO reward you  another 1,000+ points

4. After the points are posted, you can go to Account – Miles/Points – Add loyalty account – Assign the points to any frequent flier account

If you would like to maximize this promotion, you should try to book hotels with less than $140 per night. From my simple search I find a bunch of cheap hotels in Dallas, Houston and Orlando which will give you a net positive of up to $21

  • There are $79 hotels in Orlando for many dates in October. These are great for Disney/Universal Studio trips
  • $84 for hotels in Dallas for many days in Oct
  • And many $100 hotels in Houston for Sep and Oct

Rocket Miles – Almost Free hotel night in Vegas

Rocketmiles is a hotel search engine that award you miles with American Airlines, Delta, United , Alaska, Jet Blue, US Airways, Virgin America and Hawaiian Airlines when booking with them. Rocketmiles was founded a few months ago and their business model is buying large quantity of miles for cheap and award miles as incentives for hotel bookings on their site. Jay Hoffman, the CEO of Rocketmiles was head of MileagePlus program at United therefore he knows the miles business inside out

– The trick is to find a cheap hotel that have a good mile earning rate. From my research, I found out that Vegas hotels have the cheapest rate. Since I am planning to visit Vegas for Christmas, I look up 1 day from 12/22 to 12/22. New York, New York hotel, Tropicana and Monte Carlo hotel shows up with the highest mile earning and the lowest cost per night. You will earn 1,000 United miles for the cost of $52 + tax ($6). Plus if  use my referral link to sign-up for Rocketmiles.com, you will earn another 1,000 points for your first booking. In total, you will earn 1,000 + 1,000 = 2,000 points from this booking
If you value United miles at 2 cent/mile, you will get a value of $40 and out of pocket $58. Basically, this means that you get a hotel night for $18.

I also found out that from Tropicana is running $47 + tax ($7) = $54 from 12/22 to 12/23. It means that you will get 2,000 points = $40 value and out of pocket $54. Basically, this means that you get a free hotel night for $14

    • There is a resort fee of $20 per night at New York, New York Hotel and Tropicana
    • This booking is refundable therefore there is almost no risk for this deal

You can also invite your friends to join Rocketmiles. After their first booking, you’ll earn 1000 bonus miles and they’ll earn 1000 bonus miles

10% off hotel worldwide at Expedia.com

I normally don’t pay for hotels anymore because I use Club Carlson and Starwood points to redeem for free night

However, today I saw this 10% off hotel worldwide at Expedia.com.uk after you subscribe to their newsletter. I am sure it will be useful for some of you. I got the code 2 minutes after I signed up. I am not planning to use my code so if you are interested, comment here and I will share with you

Voucher Code Redemption Period: From 00:01 GMT, 17/09/2012 to 23:59 GMT 31/10/2012.

Travel Period: The travel dates must be between 17/09/2012 and 31/03/2013 (inclusive).

Even though it says: “the voucher code is an offer from Expedia.co.uk and may only be used legal residents of the UK aged 18 and over”, I don’t see how they could check that, with you credit card billing address?

How to use your voucher code

  • Once you have made a search for hotels on your desired dates of travel, within the travel period set out below, look for the “Expedia Special Rate” tag below the hotel rate to find out if it’s eligible for the discount.
  • During the booking process, on the payment page you will see the link “Enter a coupon or promotion code” where your voucher code needs to be entered;
  • Enter your voucher code in the relevant field, then click on the “apply coupon” button. The applicable discount will be subtracted from the price of the travel reservation before the application of any taxes, applicable fees or additional costs.

First Class to Hawaii for $328, Wyndham hotel promotions, British Airway family account

These days, there are three promotions that I am working furiously on.

1. The first one is that check your email for “Your point balance, member offers & Summer Rewards” from Wyndham Rewards. Wyndham is giving away 16,000 points for each stay at one of their new 20 properties. Wyndham points can be transferred to airline miles at 2.5 point = 1 mile ratio. So spending $54 at Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Chicago-Schaumburg or Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Salt Lake City – Fort Union ($60 per night) can earn you 6,400 airline miles. This promotion will work for 3 hotel stays potentially get you 48,000 Wyndham points = 19,200 Airline miles

Since Wyndham allows no-show point credit, a lot of people will be trying to book the cheapest hotel stays and either call in to check in or just don’t show up. I might try to book with my name and my friend’s name. Then my friend will check in for me in the city I can’t reach.

Details can be found at Travel by Points post.
